DIY

Whenever Talin and I see something cute, his first response is always "we could do that" sometimes I giggle at his tenacity and other times he's totally right! =) Lately I've been looking at a lot of "do it yourself" websites and found AWESOME instructions for making baby leg warmers. I started with a pack of socks
(like these..$5.99 at Target) Chopped off the heel, and toe, created a cuff out of the foot and VIOLA...3 baby leg warmers for $2 a piece. I just saved $36 bucks! Granted, they don't have the cute "baby legs" logo or that super professional look. But for $2 a piece??? I'll take it!

He has a pair of solid blue ones too...but he was DONE playing dress up!

My mom was a total domestic goddess when we were growing up! She made our play clothes, our church dresses, our Halloween costumes, even our toys! I loved being measured for the new creations she was working on, and got so excited to see lengths of fabric turning into a new dress or a Cleopatra costume. The sound of crisp fabric shears crunching through bolts of cotton print laid out on the kitchen counter is a memory I will always cherish. My goal is to one day figure out the sewing machine (ohhhh man I don't even want to say how many times I've tried) so that I can bring that homemade goodness to my children too. =)

I'm adding a new sidebar to the blog called "inspiration" I'll add links to websites and blogs that have DIY ideas to try. Let the creating begin!

I love the project! Those striped ones are SO cute!
Your mom and my mom were the same. My poor kids don't get the homemade things either. Now that Lilly is 3, I'm bound and determined to make play clothes for her. You've given my motivation.
