More thanks....

Today I am thankful for medical technology and competent doctors who act quickly to save lives. Early Saturday my ectopic pregnancy ruptured and had it not been for the quick thinking of the emergency room obstetrician this blog would have ended with my last post.

Today I am thankful for a strong body that did all that it could to keep me alive. Although the healing hurts, and is slow, as
I hobble down the hall to the bedroom I am grateful for strong legs to hold me up, a healthy heart that rhythmically beats life through my body, and a clear head that rang the alarm when things went wrong.

Today I am grateful for a loving Mom who dropped everything (and trust me...that's a lot) to fly out and take care of me, the boys and the housework. There is truly no greater friend in the world then a mother!

Today I am grateful for friends and family. For hot ,home-cooked meals, for prayers, for comforting phone calls, for 5 am priesthood blessings, for soft hands holding mine on the operating table, for pain medication, and for a patient husband.

Today, I am grateful for life.

Giving Thanks

Yes, it's 6:50 Am.

Yes, I just got home from shopping.

Yes, Talin thinks I'm insane...but I'll tell you what, sometimes you just can't say no to a deal! Especially in this economy. =)

Plus, I'm still on a love high from the wonderful little celebration we had last night...so it's not like I was sleeping anyway. HA!

Yesterday we took things easy at home with a super simple meal and Vince Guaraldi playing quietly in the background.
We let Ezra have his first taste of Martinelli's while Talin proposed a toast. After one very bubbly sip, he slid his cup away and demanded "milk!"
He refused all food with any amount of color and stuck to the starches (rolls and stuffing). With a little coaxing Tal got him to eat some turkey...
which came out beautifully! Nice job Talin man!
By the end of the meal we were all feeling stuffed and sleepy...
so Ezra and I headed over to the couch for a little hair time (he loves to rub the ends of my hair on his face, hands, nose, etc. It's so funny!) while Talin cleaned up. Isn't he the best?
When things were relatively put away, we sat on the couch snuggling and talking.
There are many, many things I'm grateful for this Thanksgiving, but most of all I'm thankful for family!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

30!

Ezra picked this "baseball cake" at Costco especially for his Daddy. =)
Welcome to your 30th year on earth my darling! I am so grateful to be your wife, and in annual style I would like to count down the 30 things I love about you!!
1. You are an amazing father. I mean it! You are a GREAT Dad!
2. You come home from a long day of work and jump right into helping me without a word of complaint or annoyance.
3. You listen to what our son has to say as if he was an adult. Literally get down on his level and listen. I know he really thinks that's cool!
4. You have never yet lost your patience when Ezra has interrupted a task you were doing because he wants you to play. That is a serious achievement. =)
5. You put Ezra and I first in all things...I truly admire and appreciate that!
6. You never let a week go by without making me feel beautiful and loved.
7. Sometimes I look at you and am overwhelmed with the knowledge that there is no one else on this earth that I would rather be spending me life with. You're it for me! =)
8. You always know when to just hold me and let me talk...AND when to just talk and talk and talk.
9. You think about me during the day and call to ask how things are going..or to tell me fun stories. I LOVE that you think about me!
10. I love the way you snuggle me when you're fast asleep and I crawl into bed late. It's as if your internal love meter forces you to slide your warm arms across the bed and hold me to you. I LOVE THAT!
11. You are always up for an adventure...and patiently tolerate my endless planning (even though I think you secretly wish I was more spontaneous). HA!
12. You are the life of the party. I love that I never have to worry if you will get along with people or if you'll have a good time when we go out. I've NEVER seen you sitting in a corner moping or shyly standing back...even in a crowd where you know NO ONE you will be talking up a storm and smiling away. I L-O-V-E that!
13. I know it frustrates you, but I sometimes think your indecisiveness is sooo adorable. I love that you want the best of everything and you take your time making sure that you get it.
14. I admire your dreams to travel and see more of the world.
15. I love that you are a loyal friend who would do ANYTHING to ensure the health and happiness of those you hold dear, including your animal friends. =)
16. I love the way you smile! I love your "camera smile", your "polite smile" and your "I'm happy" smile, but your "absolutely content and elated smile" is my favorite.
17. I love your sparkly eyes.
18. I love that you care about fashion. Lets face it..you should probably be telling ME what to wear. =)
19. I love the feel of your strong, gentle, hands on my head filling my entire body with peace and warmth when you give me a blessing.
20. I LOVE your beard! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE your beard....I LOVE IT!
21. I love that you read, not just the old favorites that you've read so much the covers have fallen off, but I love that I have to fight the crowds waiting at the library to get you the latest releases. =)
22. I love that you play games...well I love HOW you play games...win our lose it's always a good time!
23. I love your deep voice when you quietly sing to Ezra.
24. I love your silly quirks like the methodical way you make a peanut butter and honey sandwich.
25. I love that you surround yourself with music.
26. We've been through a lot in the past two years...but I love that I feel like I can weather any storm with you. No matter what comes our way we have each other, and I love that!
27. I love your patience. When I'm running around like a crazy person freaking out over pointless things, you are my calm in the storm, you are the one who reminds me that time will pass...things will work out... and that patience is always the best route to take. =)
28. You love your family and try your best to always make them proud of you!
29. You encourage me to do ANYTHING I show the least bit of interest in. You honestly believe that once someone has set their mind to something anything is possible. I love that optimism!
30. You chose me to build a family with and for that I will ALWAYS love you!

Happy Birthday Talin Wadsworth!! In the 15 years that I've known you, you have become a strong, hard-working, loving man that I admire...I can't wait to see how you've grown in another 15 years. =)

Bookworm

We spent an hour and half at the library yesterday...NOT a joke! Every time I asked if he was ready to go, Ezra grabbed another book and said "read more stories!" while plonking himself down in my lap. Needless to say we came home with practically the entire children's section! Good thing today was rainy and cold...nothing better then curling up in a mound of pillows and reading a mountain of
your favorite books. =)

For the joy of human love...

This week, Talin and I received some sad news.
I am in awe of how quickly our family and friends mobilized to bring us comforting meals, cheerful flowers and hours of emotionally healing conversations. I am so grateful for the amazingly strong women and men who surround our family with love and comfort in the times when we need them the most.
Thank you!!

Catching up....

I feel like we've been gone FOREVER! =)
Ezra and I took a little Halloween/Grandpa's Birthday trip to Utah. I have fun pictures (although Lisa and Mom have better ones) and stories to share....buuuuuuut...Ezra's been sick, then better, sick, then better, and SICK AGAIN! I've had TONS of work come my way (a HUGE blessing, but it doesn't leave much time for blogging), and then Ezra(or somebody out there) passed his sickness to me...BLARGH! Needless to say...we have LOTS of catching up to do.

In the mean time, here are some pictures (sadly all were taken with my cell phone so they're not the best quality) of our trip to the fire station with Ezra's play-group on Wednesday. He had so much fun touring the station (he was most excited about "going pee pee on fire station potty!" HA!).

He seemed intimidated by the sheer size of the engine at first...

...but with a little coaxing he finally got brave enough to touch the hoses...
...and the lights...
...and even climb inside! (just for a minute though). =)
The firemen had baby Jared and Ezra doing push ups like a pro. HA! Just kidding! Ezra was watching baby Jared pulling himself into a standing position and he decided to join in on the fun.
We had such a good time! EVERY play group should make this trip at least once. =) Ezra's going to be talking about this day for a looooooooong time!
