Laundry Day

What to do with a wiggly toddler when you have to go down to the laundry room to gather dry clothes? Today the solution was this....
He stayed in there the whole time! He even played peek-a-boo (sitting down so that only his little blond head was showing, and then standing up really quick and shouting) with a few of the residents. Oh man I love this guy's humor!

Projects...

I've been looking, longingly, at this fabric for almost a month now. I had grand plans of making a new bag for myself (my diaper bag is hashed) that would be big enough to carry my stuff and Ezra's many essentials (cars, snacks, wipes..). Lucky for me, there was a HUGE sale this weekend and I was finally able to justify the price of my beloved fabric.After picking it apart and putting it back together THREE times...I finally have my bag!!! I used this awesome tutorial, which apparently I needed to read closer (hence the three re-do's).
It has a pocket on the inside to hold my wallet, keys, phone, etc. And, it's big enough to fit Ezra's little brown bag of "things" along with diapers and wipes. SO LONG BORING BLACK DIAPER BAG!
For whatever reason, I decided to learn how to patchwork. My pattern called for vertical striped fabric, I found this girly goody to work with.
After cutting the fabric into squares, I pinned them together and sewed a diagonal line...
resulting in this awesome new pattern...which when combined with other squares...
makes these giant patterns! I have to say that I am so much more impressed with what quilters do after messing with this project. Right now, if I never see this fabric again it will be too soon......bah! But, I'm sure that when it's completely done I'll feel differently. I'd post the "close to finished" picture, but it's a gift for a friend (whom I hoping will forgive the many mistakes in it) so I'll wait until I've actually given it. =)
Here's the backing. All of this rain is giving me so much time to just be inside sewing. I like it...but I also can't wait for "park weather" to come back!

They're Taking OVER!

Before Ezra was born I was pretty snotty about not wanting ANYTHING for him that had a sports or vehicle theme.I went on long tirades about how lame it was that EVERYTHING for little boys was covered in cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc.My mom laughed at me and said "what are you going to do if your little boy really likes trucks?" I told her that I would let him make that choice...but I wasn't going to force it on him.....well my friends....Ezra has chosen! He discovered the $.99 matchbox cars at Target one day, and since then his collection has grown, and grown, and grown. He mashes them with his big Tonka trucks, he brings them on car rides with us, he begs for them at the grocery store...and it doesn't stop there! He's obsessed with pointing out trucks, buses, airplanes, trains, motorcycles, ANYTHING with wheels by pointing and yelling "that!" He stared, open mouthed, at the Harley driving in front of us today. I had to giggle looking at his face in the review mirror.He even looks for books about vehicles at the library and REFUSES to let me read any other book to him. I guess I have to admit that in the world of little boys.....
things with engines are pretty dang fascinating! I better start preparing myself for an obsession with sports next, eh?

More news from the high chair

It seems like ALL of the pictures I'm taking lately are of Ezra in his high chair. In my defense, that's pretty much the only time I can get a picture of him holding still...in most of my other shots he's a little blond blur. Tal and I decided to break out the toddler dining set we got from a friend at one of my baby showers. The little plate sticks to the tray and the fork and spoon have GIANT handles...perfect for holding.

Ezra took one look at the silverware...and dove right in!
He used the spoon to shove a noodle or too onto the fork....then he switched to pushing food onto the spoon with the fork...

and when he got sick of that...he went back to the good ol' standby...fingers!

p.s. he was given that shirt on the day he was born by the personal trainer I used to take a prenatal swim class from. He's FINALLY growing into it....and it's a 3T! HA!

A new blog!

One of the joys of not having a backyard, is the adventure of trying to find somewhere for Ezra to get his wiggles out!! Today while watching him take his daily park stroll, I wished that there was a webiste I could go to that would tell me what all of the parks on the peninsula are like (do they have swings, do they have a "little" kids playground as well as one for older kids, do they have bark or sand surfaces-but more then that...are they worth the visit?!!?). Then I had a fun idea...what if Ezra and I went around to all of the parks and talked about what we liked (or didn't) in a blog. TA DA! Introducing A Walk In The Park (offical address: www.peninsulaparks.blogspot.com) There are over 30 parks in San Mateo county alone...our plan is to visit, and review them all. Some we've already been to...some I've NEVER heard of. Our goal is to have played in every park in the county by 2010. Here we go!!

Saturday is a special day!

We love Saturdays!! There's nothing more fun then hanging out with Talin and having family adventures together. =)

On Friday, Ezra and I walked down to Central Park to enjoy the lull in the rain. He played on this little slide.

But, then he saw this BIG SLIDE and he was off!! I literally had to pull him down from trying to climb to the top of this play structure to get on the giant slide. I promised him that when Daddy came home on Saturday (and if it didn't rain) that we would come back and go down the huge slide.

On Saturday, with Daddy in tow, we made our way back to the park, and back to the BIG slide.

Up, up, up, they went.....
I didn't get a chance to get a picture of him actually going down the slide because he whizzed down it like a greased otter! NO chance to catch that streak of little orange lightning!!

After he landed (or rather...was caught by his mom), he was right back up again and demanding more!This time he wanted to go down the curly slide.
MORE, MORE, MORE!!
We convinced him to come and play on the little slide for a bit...
and mess around with the big steering wheel and car cut outs....
He decided that he wanted to swing for a bit...notice how he's holding on with two hands now! He was watching the older kids swinging next to him and he changed his hands to mimic them. How cute is that?

We sang him songs, and he giggled at his silly parents.

When we got home, we found my food network magazine in the mail (thanks mom!) and we decided to try something FUN for dinner!
With Ezra bathed and snuggled in bed, we made the dough, the sauce and smothered it all in cheese...

Then we curled up with a funny movie, sodas and an ooey gooey homemade mess to enjoy. =)
