I realized today that "smaller" holidays like St. Patrick's Day and President's Day are SOOOOOO much more important in the land of elementary schools then they are in the real world. As a fourth grade teacher for the past 7 years I've put together a special green outfit, created fun crafts, even planned what the "leprechaun" would leave behind while the kids were at lunch...last year I have no clue what we did on March 17th....and today, well...at least we were wearing green.

I hope that when Ezra gets older I find my way back into making a big deal out of ALL holidays! It gives us something to look forward to, something to plan for, something to be excited about. That's why holidays are around right? =)
Yesterday was gorgeous! We went for a walk and saw a mommy deer and her two spotted babies (if you look close you can see them lying in the shade nibbling on grass).

Ezra demanded OUT of the stroller for the last 1/2 mile. He ran around finding eucalyptus pods to throw at the yellow lines, and rocks to put on his stroller tray to play with later. He had a blast (he even took off running with a passing jogger, trying his best to keep up. HA!)
Even if we didn't have a celebration, we still had a wonderful day!

Same here. We wore green and ate Irish Soda Bread and Kiwis for breakfast, and had special green apple juice at dinner but that was about the whole of it.
