Down on the farm

Today Ezra was invited to visit Tilden farm with his sweet friend Maddy. We got up early, packed a lunch and headed to the east bay. How exciting!
Ezra was overjoyed to be allowed to run free...but he didn't want to go anywhere NEAR the animals.
I realize that when you're almost 3 feet tall this cow must appear to be a giant, but look at how sweet she looks! The cows were so social and kind, they came right up to the fence and patiently tolerated my cooing and petting. =)
Next we visited the duck pool...complete with goose lifeguard! HA!
I'm not kidding, look at him bossing those ducks around.."Hey! I said no running on the deck!" hee hee hee
The ducks and geese shared their space with chickens and turkeys..it was fun to see the dynamic of so many fowl sharing a space. The pigs were renting the pen next door and I kind of felt bad for all of the noise they had to put up with. If it were me, I would TOTALLY complain to the landlord about the rambunctious neighbors. It didn't seem to bother these sleepy hogs though.
Ezra, of course, found the stairs leading up to the goats much more amusing then the animals themselves...
except for one silly goat who kept trying to get his attention....
luckily sweet Maddy had brought celery sticks to share!
Ezra gathered up his courage...the goat s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d his neck as far as it would go...and a successful farm animal interaction occurred. HOORAY! Hopefully he'll use this experience to help him build up the confidence to get a little closer to other animals. =)
We all marveled at the lazy ram and his curly horns...
his lack of movement prompted Ezra to move in for a better look.
All the running around and feeding the animals made us hungry so we sat down in the cow barn to eat our sack lunches. The lighting was beautiful, so I tried to snap a few pictures of Ezra...
but I guess I asked him to "look at me and smile" too many times....oh well.
Maddy and Jess were much better behaved models. =)
A quick potty stop in the visitor's center found this carved mountain lion...
which was the perfect size for riding. Giddy-up cowboy!
We had sooo much fun, friends! Thank you for inviting us to share your wonderful adventure.
