Each night as the boys playfully bathe
Ezra asks to play with cold water.
Not tepid, not cool, not even room temp.
the more chilling the stream the better.
Daddy gently warns to be careful each time
Ezra pours icy cups down his tummy.
That the jumps and the squiggles the water induces
could lead to a fall, which is crummy.
Last night, as usual, the bathing ended
in a game of "avoid the cold shower".
But, this time amid the fun laughter and jumps
the tub overturned the balance of power.
Ezra went down with a bang, crash and clunk,
his sharp wails echoed off the tiles.
And nothing that Mommy or Daddy would do
could bring back his sweet little smiles.
So bundled in bed, warm bottle and story
he cuddled close to friend Harvey to snooze.
But when he awoke to our shock and chagrin
he had acquired a brand new blue bruise.
So take heed little children of this sad tiny tale
that when standing in places quite slippy,
it's best to listen to Mom and Dad's warnings
or your eye can end up unhappy.

Poor baby, but I guess it is the badge of a true boy! ;)
