On Friday, Talin's company held a "family event" complete with games, dinner, and a pine wood derby!!!
Ezra couldn't wait to get started making his very own car!

Talin took his time designing an aerodynamic body and then got to work carving it out...

...which was pretty fascinating to watch.

Not content to sit on the sidelines, Ezra jumped into Daddy's lap and did his best to help out.

But, when things got rough, he took a popsicle break. =)

Once the body was cut, the boys sanded....

...discussed where to place the weight....

...and picked out decals.
All too soon it was time to clean up and get ready for bed with a promise to finish in the morning.

Daddy man stayed up late to paint and seal the body. As soon as Ezra was up, they got right back on the job.
First, they put on the decals...

... and then they got ready for some real work!
Good thing Grandma Maridawn sent us this Ezra size hammer and safety goggles. =)

The boys tapped the wheels into place and made sure they were aligned...

... then they screwed on the weight...

...and our car was ready to rumble!

After a deliciously long nap, we headed off to meet Daddy in the city.
There were LOTS of cool cars to look at.

Ezra named ours "The Racing Car". =)

Whiled we waited for the races to begin we played games.
Whack-a-mole, skee-ball, pac man, air hockey...they had everything!

We ate a yummy dinner, complete with GIANT churros (I wish I could have caught his HUGE smile on the other side of this treat!)

And then it was time!
Our car was in the second heat (second row!)

But, even though we had a pretty good start, the blocky shark in the third lane beat us out. =(

Ezra didn't seem too sad about it, he was just glad to get his car back!
HA!
Plus, with everybody watching the races, he was free to play all the games his little heart could desire.
