The fourth and fifth graders at my school got together and planted a little fall garden next to our classrooms. It was so fun to watch their faces as they dug in the black soil and gently laid their little lettuce and parsely plants in the shallow holes. They were SUPER excited about planting the seeds of radishes and spinach (proably because they didn't have to handle them as gently). I had taken off my shoes and was walking around supervising the watering when suddenly i had one of those moments where everything seems perfect. The warm dirt in between my toes, the cool ocean breeze, the smell of a freshly planted garden, and the silly giggles of little kids. It made me so thankful to be alive and enjoying the tinniest (and often overlooked) everyday blessings.
p.s. I tried to post pics of the garden but I couldn't get the school camera to cooperate. Sorry. =(
