Introducing the beach

It's no secret that one of our favorite places to spend an afternoon is the beach.  

Let's face it, half of my blog photos are dedicated to beach adventures.  

HA!  

Although the move across the bay has taken us further away from our beloved spot, it's not TOO far of a drive, especially on a weekday....and the time had come to introduce Junie to sand, sun....and those cold northern California breezes.

Luckily, we picked the PERFECT day to head out to Half Moon Bay.  

Believe it or not, fall is actually the best time to relax on the beach here...it can even get a bit hot!

Once we had the blankets and umbrella settled, I hauled June out of her car seat so she could enjoy the 

sounds and smells....

 ...to be honest, she wasn't that impressed...HA!  

But, she wasn't totally against it either, so we sat back....

 ...and watched Ezra....

 ...do his crazy, wild....

...little-boy, thing!

 After a while I smooshed her baby toes into the sand and she gurgled her curiosity...

 ....she smiled and giggled at the seagulls surrounding us, begging for picnic scraps....

 ....and Ezra settled in for some serious construction work.

 (that shovel is 3 times the size of his truck!)

 I love listening to this kid while he plays. The stories he comes up with are so great! 

 I feel like I want to write them down and read them to him later as a bed time story.

 Of course, I made Ezra sit for the obligatory "we were at the beach today" photo.

 But, June will just have to settle for this awkward..

 The sun started to fade, and Daddy would be on his way home soon, so, after one last burial in the sand....

 ...we packed up and headed back before traffic hit the bridge.
I'm calling our first beach trip with baby a success.
She cooed happily while squishing sand in her baby hands,  and LOVED watching Ezra play.
She really is our little ball of summer sunshine!

Such a beautiful day at the beach with two WONDERFUL kids!
