Beach sunset

Late afternoon on Saturday we loaded the car with gear and set out to watch the sunset over the ocean.
Ezra was so excited to try out the huge airplane kite he got from Aunt Lisa for Christmas!!
We let out ALLLLL the string and his "blue angel" went soaring.
He liked holding it at first...then realized Pop Pop was lounging unprotected on the beach blanket...which of course meant that he needed to be wrastled!
HA!
He looked up at the plane every now and then and squealed but the prospect of a good game of roughhouse beat out holding the kite string.
Daddy took over as pilot, and we watched it flutter above us for at least an hour. Meanwhile, the sun started to dip into the waves...
...taking with it what little warmth there was on the sand....BRRRR! We bundled up and pledged to stay...
...until the last ray could be seen.
Although it was freezing by the end...it was so wonderful to sit on that beach with my family around me listening to the waves and watching the water and sky shift color.
I couldn't be more grateful for that quiet time we spent just being together...not really talking or laughing...just enjoying.
Of course, those kind of moments only last so long with this little rascal around!
He ventured out from underneath the blankets to hop on Pop Pop some more. =)
What a patient Daddy I have.
HA!
When the shadows had chased away all of the light, we gathered up supplies and trundled back to San Mateo for dinner at our favorite chinese place.
Needless to say Ezra slept like a log that night!
