Adventures with Pop Pop

One of my favorite things about my parent's vacation in the bay area, was how much time I got to spend with my Dad!
We took him out to Hyde Street Pier...
...to visit the boats...
...play make-believe....
...and generally enjoy each other's company.
Of course, the boats just HAPPEN to be right at the end of the cable car line.
Which makes for some pretty awesome photo ops...
...and hiking all those hills makes for one tired boy.
HA!
On Pop Pop's last day in town
(MeeMee flew out early that morning)
we took him to a special breakfast...at DENNY'S!
HA HA HA!
I haven't eaten at Denny's since I was in high school...
...at like one in the mooring...
...ha!...
...but they had the hash browns Dad was craving. =)
And, on the plus side, it was super cheap!
We went back down to the pier to see the Naval Submarine docked there...
...I was surprised to find it tucked away in a little corner...
...just waiting for people to come aboard and see what life on a sub is like.
Ezra desperately needed to use the bathroom, which led us to another random discovery...
...and old school arcade...
...and when I say old school...
...I'm talking like 19th century old school!
HA HA HA!
OK...maybe it wasn't that old.
But, the oldest machine in there was from 1911!!
It was full of the weirdest things.....
...but Ezra seemed to like the squeaky, metal games and music machines...
...he did not, however, enjoy the classic photo booth from 1980 that we climbed into.
He was ok....at first...then he abandoned ship by the last picture.
After leaving the arcade, we drove around to see the sights while the boy napped.
The painted ladies....
...Haight/Ashbury...
...we ended up at Land's End watching HUGE tanker ships come in and listening to fog signals.
At this point our little friend woke up and was ready for more!
Pop Pop wanted to explore topside while Ezra and I headed down, down, down to check out the trail.
The views were incredible!
So, of course, I had to have Ezra pose for a million pictures....
....I totally missed his little dance and squinty face...
...until it was too late.
HA!
Realizing I'd left my purse with Pop Pop, and with it a dry pair of clothes, Ezra got to discover the joy of running unencumbered in SUPER short shorts!
Oh well....
After a quick clothes change we drove to Golden Gate park where Pop Pop became king of the jungle gym!
Look at how awesome this man is!!
HA!
I love you Daddy!
He surveyed his kingdom then jumped off like a 25 year old mountain climber!
As the sun went down, we drove across the bridge, picked up dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant in Oakland and took Pop Pop to the airport.

We had SOOOOOOOO much fun Mom and Dad!
Thanks for adventuring with us!
We love you!
Come back soon!!
