Fleet week!

So, I have to admit, I'm falling behind in my posting.
I've been given a new calling at church that seems to be consuming my every waking moment....
...but after a gentle prodding from my mom...
(oh how I love you Mom!)
...I'm going to do my best to keep up our little family journal.
First up.....FLEET WEEK!

Yes that's right....we braved the traffic
(of which we were surprised to not find very much of)
and spent the first Saturday of October at Fleet Week!

In true San Francisco style, however, it wasn't just Fleet Week, it was also the America's Cup race, the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, a Giants game, and a 49er's game....
....and those were just the BIG events.
HA!
Needless to say, there was a LOT to see and do!

While we waited for the air-show to start, we hung out at the America's Cup event staging area.
Ezra got to practice pulling up a racing sail
(he's pretty dang fast)
and sweet-faced his way into a free t-shirt!
Here he is begging me to please let him put it on...
(even though it was HUGE)
...he didn't even notice the start of the show behind him...
...can you see it?

I've never seen anything more amazing...well and kind of frightening...then this stealth bomber.
It was GIGANTIC and so quiet......we didn't even hear it's engines until a full 30 seconds
(or more)
after it passed us!
Not to mention it's eery, otherworldly shape.
After it's roar buzzed our heads, Ezra realized the show had begun and he settled in for an hour of pointing, ooohing and aaaaaaahing.
He loved the "trick planes" that could hang in the air and then swirl back down to earth.
He also loved the grilled cheese his daddy showed up with!
(p.s. yes....Talin was rocking a mustache this day. HA!)
We sat there eating, laughing, and occasionally covering our ears as the display above our heads continued on...
...Ezra told me later his favorite part was when the 747 flew over the Golden Gate Bridge and buzzed over our heads so low we could see every tiny detail!
MY favorite part when when the "generations" of planes flew together.
I know I was talking non-stop to Ezra about Great Grandpa Red and how much he would have enjoyed what we were seeing, but when this grouping flew overhead I couldn't help but get a little teary, thinking about and missing my amazing Grandpa.
As the show began to end, we headed over to the army vehicles that were out for display...
...the boys had a great time climbing and exploring.
I tried to convince Ezra to let me get his picture with a group of Marines that were helping out
(in full uniform)
near the trucks....but he was MUCH to intimidated. =)

As most Wadsworth adventures do, this one ended in a delicious, cold, treat for the ride home.

What a wonderful weekend with my boys!
